My Yearly Spiritual Retreat

Tommorow I will begin a three day retreat.  Last year was the first time I had done something like this and I decided that it would become a yearly deal (I should say “at least” a yearly deal..I’d do it more if able).

So I’m headed once again to St. Anselm’s in Washington DC.  I’ll arrive in the morning, spend Thursday, Friday, and Saturday in prayer, reading, interacting with some of the men that live there, and resting.  I will come home sometime Saturday.

I look forward to a time of rejuvination.  I can’t even begin to describe what these type of retreats do for my spiritual life, emotional health, love for my family, and even work ethic.  It’s difficult to leave my family for three days but I’m blessed with a wife who understands the power of prayer and spiritual rest.   I’ve encouraged Jess to do something similar though she has not yet taken me up on it.  Email her at jesskurz@hotmail.com and encourage her to do the same.  :-)

I plan to reread Brother Lawrence’s Practicing the Presence of God in addition to reading a Gospel, probably John.  This might sound like a strange question however I will be spending much time in prayer and would love to pray for you…let me know, comment or email, how I can particularly do so.

Also, if you’ve been on similar retreats, I’d love to hear what you’ve done/read, etc.
