I love fall! I had to go with autumn leaves for this months banner. The trees are from Central Park in New York City and the painting to the right is the famous St. Francis of Assissi Preaching to the Birds by Giotto di Bondone (photos from Corbis). The liturgical calendar day remembering St. Francis is October 4. As a part of my personal worship rhythm, I observe these special days (which are a part of my Celtic Daily Prayer Divine Hours) as a means to learn from the past and remind myself of those who have gone before. I’ll briefly post about Francis this Thursday.
